Occupational Therapy in the Equine Environment

The equine environment provides consistency, routine, and predictability, these are key factors that assist effective everyday living for clients.  Looking after horses can have a substantial positive influence on clients’ productivity and performance in everyday living, this to include knowledge and skill development.  The horse environment is used therapeutically by OTs to enhance productivity, improve performance, and support clients to develop and build on skills and knowledge that can be easily transferred into personal, work-related, and home-based activities of daily living.
